Speaker: Julia Volkmar (Queen's University Belfast)
Chair: Brendan McKee ((Queen's University Belfast)
Based on my oral history interviews with archivists in Eastern Germany and Northern Ireland, I will demonstrate in how far archives shape understandings of truth and justice in post-conflict environments. I will outline how archivists become key actors of transitional justice and how different types of archives fulfil important roles in dealing with the past. This talk will in particular focus on the experiences of archivists.
