80 of Northern Ireland's top 100 companies employ our graduates in senior positions

A safe and friendly city

A city that's home from home

A cosmopolitan European atmosphere

Yet Belfast is small enough to feel accessible and welcoming. It is a UK city, so visitors from Great Britain will feel at home but also an Irish city, which gives it a distinct cultural identity.

Social life in the Queen's Quarter

The bustling hubs of Botanic Avenue and Stranmillis Road are immediately next to the campus, providing cafes, restaurants and bars. The Student’s Union regularly hosts events and concerts and the popular Botanic Inn and Eglantine Inn are a five minute stroll away.

Students can walk through Botanic Gardens, home to the Palm House and the Ulster Museum, the largest museum in Northern Ireland, which features everything from archaeological artefacts to fine art, whilst the Queen’s Film Theatre (QFT) is Northern Ireland's only arthouse cinema.

Home from home

Elms Village

Guaranteed accommodation for students from outside Northern Ireland

Student accommodation at Queen’s is the ideal way to make the transition from home to university.

More about accommodation

Queen’s Elms Village is located close to the main campus and is among the best and most modern in the UK. Queen’s has invested over £45 million in providing world-class facilities at Elms Village, designed with first year undergraduates in mind.

There is live-in support from our team of Community Youth Workers (CYW) and Residential Assistants (RA) whose role is to help students deal with transition issues such as settling-in, making friends, managing money and sharing communal living space.

Safety

The University’s buildings and accommodation are located in a relatively quiet, affluent residential area of south Belfast. Street crime and burglary rates in Belfast are much lower than in comparable European or American cities (Northern Ireland Annual Abstract of Statistics 2009).
