While a student at Queen's in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Seamus Heaney wrote poems and stories under the pen-name 'Incertus' (Latin for 'Uncertain'). The Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's holds an archive featuring the student magazines in which these early poems were published.

Featuring performed readings by Queen's University Belfast Drama graduate Seamus O'Hara, star of Academy Award-winning short film An Irish Goodbye, this one-off online event features tastes of the exciting and creative research and studies happening in the Centre and Queen's School of Arts, English and Languages.

This free event is perfect for those who would like a taste of graduate studies in English and other programmes offered at Queen’s University Belfast or who would like to become more connected to the centre and join a global network of Alumni and friends including Seamus Heaney Events in the US.

Join us for an exploration of how one of Ireland's greatest poets found his voice. This event will take place online, at 8.00pm GMT on Thursday 21 November, (3pm EST, 12PM PST).
