Overview
The award was established by an alumnus of the Queen's University School of Law, who graduated with a degree in Law & Accounting. The alumnus is highly appreciative of all the opportunities she received while attending the Queen’s University of Belfast and would like to pay it forward to an undergraduate who deserves an opportunity to experience the education environment and culture outside of Northern Ireland.
The purpose of the award is to support one student per academic year to engage in a Summer Work Experience/Placement/Internship or Conference opportunity (the latter must be on a legal theme) outside of Northern Ireland relating to study.
Further Information
Students can apply in the second semester of their second year via an online application form. Shortlisting is in accordance mainly with academic grades. Applications from students with an average of 60+achieved in their Year 1 will be considered.
This award will go to the successful student with a declared household income below the minimum published threshold or who participated in the QUB Pathway Opportunity Programme or in the Senior Academy Programme and has had the best academic performance since the commencement of their degree. Entry to these programmes is restricted to those from disadvantaged backgrounds, facing additional barriers in life.
The successful applicant must detail how receipt of this award will enrich their degree and support their skill development relevant to their chosen career.
