The Fulbright-Queen’s University Belfast Award covers a taught master’s degree in all disciplines at the university.

What can I study?

The award is open across all graduate programmes across the university with the following exclusions: 

  • MSc Industrial Pharmaceutics 
  • MSc Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics 
  • PG Certificate and PG Diploma programmes 
  • All Distance Learning programmes, foundation degree programmes and part-time programmes. 
  • MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis  
  • MSc Autism Spectrum Disorders

What’s on Offer?

Our postgraduate awards generally include: 

  • Tuition waiver
  • A personal living allowance (stipend)
  • Sickness and accident coverage
  • Cultural enrichment programmes and events

The personal living allowance is intended to help cover the cost of living in the UK as a student and is subject to annual review.

Applying for the award

In your Fulbright online application, for Award Name, please select Fulbright Queen’s University Belfast Award (All Disciplines) from the drop-down menu.  - Fulbright Queen’s University Belfast Award (All Disciplines)

Applicants will complete two applications, the Fulbright application and the university’s application (according to the university’s admissions procedures).

Applicants must submit their university applications as early as possible, ideally before January 13, 2026. Applicants who fail to do so may be at a competitive disadvantage.  

The institution does not typically provide letters of recommendation/ affiliation for master’s degree applicants.

Applications for the 2026-27 academic year are open.

Fulbright Postgraduate Student Award applications for US citizens are facilitated by the Institute of International Education (IIE).

Follow the IIE Fulbright US Student Program guidance, including timelines and components and award-specific instructions.

Slate, the online application, is used by Fulbright programmes around the world, and Awards differ greatly from country to country. 

You must make a separate application to your chosen UK institution, the timeline, and deadlines for which will vary from the Fulbright application.
