Queen's welcomes largest ever cohort of inbound U.S. Scholarship recipients to date
This diverse group includes both internal QUB award winners and recipients of prestigious external scholarships such as the Fulbright, Marshall, Mitchell and the Norman Houston Award.

Having such high-achieving students on campus, stands to benefit the Queen’s community. Their academic excellence and diverse backgrounds enrich the classroom and fosters a dynamic learning environment, celebrated at a recent event with the North America Team.
Meeting with Prof. Margaret Topping, Pro Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement the scholarship holders had the chance to learn about potential opportunities to serve as ambassadors and hear about the students' individual journeys to Queen's.
Among the recipients was Madeline Sumpter from Tennessee, who was awarded the Queen’s Future Leaders Award. Madeline, who is studying BSc Geography, shared her experience at Queen’s, saying:
‘’I am so glad I decided to pursue my degree at Queen's. The opportunity to study at a world-class institution in this beautiful city is an untraditional route often overlooked by my American peers. Still, I could not imagine a better way to study and explore the opportunity of self-growth presented by academic transnationalism. I am gaining a tremendous education through my classes and daily experiences of living in a new city.’’
Brittany Alyse McCutchen from Jacksonville, Florida, recipient of the Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Peace and Reconciliation, is currently pursuing an LLM in International Human Rights.
‘’As an aspiring human rights lawyer, the Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Peace and Reconciliation has been an incredible opportunity for me to study International Human Rights Law in Belfast. It is particularly special to learn about human rights and conflict transformation in Belfast, where so many people have such a strong professional and personal connection to peacebuilding.’’
