Provide work related learning opportunities

Work placements and internships are a highly beneficial way to bridge the gap between academia and the professional world and can be a rewarding experience for both alumni and students.

They provides students with practical skills, networking opportunities, and insights into their chosen field, while allowing alumni to contribute to the professional development of the next generation.

When alumni introduce us to their organisations, it enables our Work-Related Learning and Placement Office staff to uncover potential opportunities by understanding the company’s needs. By implementing a system that’s been operating for more than 25 years, the right students are then matched to relevant opportunities, to the mutual benefit of both parties, creating long-standing positive relationships with our engaged corporates.

Requirements

We are keen to work with alumni from a range of sectors.  Alumni should have a certain level of professional experience in their field to ensure they can offer valuable insights, guidance and support to students during placement.

TIME COMMITMENT

Varies – internships are normally between six and ten weeks over the summer holiday period.   Placements are normally between six months and one year.

I centred my career on serving communities but until now Queen's was not part of this. I then got involved and thoroughly enjoyed engaging students on the Future Ready Skills for Leaders Programme.
