Student Experience

As a student, you will be taught by academic staff based in the Centre for Biomedical Sciences Education, whose staff have won seven Queen’s University Teaching Awards in recent years. The programme also offers a student led research/Scholarly activity in any aspect of anatomical science including gross, microscopical, radiological, comparative or archaeological anatomy.
World Class Facilities

You will be taught within world class facilities as Queen's is one of the few medical schools in the UK where students have access to human cadaveric teaching material in a purpose-built facility licensed by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA).
Career Opportunities

Student Experience

Central to this programme is a multi-disciplinary team of academic and clinical specialists, with expertise ranging from molecular disease phenotyping, functional genomics, infectious disease biology, vascular biology, genetic epidemiology, imaging, immunology, stem cell biology and exploitation, unique pre-clinical models of disease, and patient-based investigation and clinical trials. The programme offers comprehensive research training with access to over 57 research groups and the state-of-the-art research facilities at the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute of Experimental Medicine (WWIEM).

You will be taught and mentored within the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute of Experimental Medicine (WWIEM): a purpose-built institute at the heart of the Health Sciences Campus, boasting state-of-the-art research facilities.

Research facilities include Central Technology Units for Imaging and Genomics which are leading the way in research excellence and innovative healthcare.

The MSc in Experimental Medicine is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in experimental medicine, whether it is in academia, clinical practice, industry, or government. The strong links between the (WWIEM) and the biotech or biopharmaceutical sectors provides a stimulating experimental and translational environment, while also expanding your career opportunities. The programme will also provide an excellent platform for progression to PhD programmes either in Queen’s or worldwide.
