When asked to reflect on “what does being a Principal Fellow mean to you?” Joan answered:
Principal Fellowship is recognition of my career-long commitment to education in the HE context; and a celebration of the strategic impact that my collaborative work with others has made – in QUB, with external partners and in my own subject area. I am encouraged to see that QUB is increasingly valuing and profiling the achievements of colleagues whose contributions to the institution, alongside their research and scholarship, are focused on educational leadership. QUB’s growing network of Fellows at all levels is testament to our commitment to reflective, informed practice. It also indicates the seriousness with which we take our professional responsibility to our students and our peers in enhancing standards in teaching and learning.
