The UK has expanded its licensing policy on which chemicals fall under Schedule 1 of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). In particular, the regime has been expanded to include chemicals that are not specifically listed in Schedule 1 under a particular CAS number, but share a chemical similarity with the ones that are. The UK considers the molecular structure of a chemical in order to determine whether it is covered by Schedule 1 and therefore isotopically labelled analogues, stereoisomers (both optical and geometric), and corresponding salts are licensable.
