Exposure to excessive noise can permanently damage your hearing. The Noise at Work Regulations require that assessment of noise levels must be made whenever there is a noisy environment. In any cases of excessive noise, steps must be taken to reduce this at source. If this is not practicable, then hearing protection must be made available to employees, who must wear it in any prescribed areas or when using work equipment which generates high noise levels.
Further Guidance
The University policy and guidance gives detail concerning the control of noise in the workplace. The aim of this guidance is to ensure that all Schools and Services have a management system in place to protect employees from excessive noise at their place of work.
