The use of Personal Protective Equipment
The University has a duty to identify situations in which it is necessary for staff / students to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). During many everyday tasks including research, teaching catering or Estates and building maintenance, University staff and students may be exposed to chemical, physical, biological or environmental hazards. PPE is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work. It can include items such as safety helmets, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear and respiratory protective equipment (RPE).
