If you are arranging or responsible for the work with children and/or adults at risk please also refer to the Information for Line Managers and Responsible People.
Everyone who works with children and adults at risk must comply with any of the safeguarding arrangements put in place by those responsible for the activity.

Code of Behaviour (Children and Adults at Risk)
Everyone who works with children and adults at risk must read and comply with the University’s Code of Behaviour (Children and Adults at Risk).
This Code sets out the expected behaviours to follow to help safeguard yourself and those you work with. The code also sets out behaviours that are not permitted, some of which are unlawful. Failure to follow the Code may result in an investigation under the relevant University procedure e.g. the Conduct Regulations, The Disciplinary Procedure etc. The matter may also be referred to the PSNI or the relevant Health and Social Care Trust. In some circumstances you may be referred to the Disclosure and Barring Service who will consider whether you should be barred from working with children and/or vulnerable adults.
eSafety Guidance
Everyone who works with children and adults at risk must comply with the University’s eSafety guidance. This guidance sets out a number of behaviours to follow to help safeguard yourself and those you work with. There are ways in which you must always act and behaviours that are not permitted. Failure to follow the Guidance may result in an investigation under the relevant University procedure e.g. the Conduct Regulations, the Disciplinary Procedure etc. The matter may also be referred to the PSNI or the relevant Health and Social Care Trust. In some circumstances you may be referred to the Disclosure and Barring Service who will consider whether you should be barred from working with children and/or vulnerable adults.
Safeguarding Concerns
You may have concerns about:
- The welfare of a child or an adult at risk in their home/community setting
- About a child or adult at risk due to their involvement with University employees/students or attendance at events/activities
- The behaviour of someone working with children or vulnerable adults for or on behalf of the University

Working with third parties e.g. placements within HSC organisations/employers, research in schools etc.
If you are working with third party organisations you will need to comply with the safeguarding arrangements and reporting requirements put in place by that organisation.
