To protect your information, you need to consider where it should be stored and how it will be backed-up. If you need to share your information you need to be aware of how you and any collaborators can access the documents. Also, consider what needs to happen to your data when you graduate or leave Queen's employment.
Where should I store my data?
Personal StorageFor personal storage the recommended storage option is OneDrive is the Microsoft cloud service that connects you to all your files. Your files are stored and protected and you can share them with others. You can access your files from anywhere on any devices. It is fully integrated with other Microsoft 365 Apps. |

Group of Staff or Students working togetherFor a group of Staff or Students working together the recommended storage option is Microsoft 365 Teams Teams offers file storage and sharing (along with other collaboration functionality such as calls, meetings, chat and access to additional Apps.) SharePoint can also be used to store data which will be accessed by more than one person. |

My data when I leave Queen's
When you graduate or leave employment with Queen's you will lose access to Microsoft 365 including OneDrive and Teams.
If you will need any data on your OneDrive after you graduate or leave employment, back it up (personal cloud storage or other storage device) before you go.
If you have any data you wish to keep on a Q: drive, back it up before you go as your Q: drive will be deleted shortly after you leave.
Any Teams you are a member of will persist after you graduate or leave employment with Queen's. If you are a Team Owner, ensure there is at least one other Owner before you go.
