The main activities students are involved in is outlined in the description of duties below:
Events and Conferences
- To act as the a point of contact for guests attending University events/ conferences;
- Seating guests according to a designated seating plan;
- Registering guests/ delegates at events/ conferences;
- Providing a source of information regarding the specific event/ conference;
- To undertake ceremonial tasks such as pole bearer during Graduation;
- Directing guests to appropriate areas within an event/ conference;
- Distributing information/ promotional literature at events / conferences;
- To undertake administrative duties in support of activities within the Eventus Unit (such as mailshots, preparing papers, database research etc);
- To act as an ambassador for the University when undertaking duties as part of the register;
- To undertake duties in the Welcome Centre or Naughton Gallery, when required
Academic Costume Hire Service
- Dealing with students collecting and returning gowns to the Gown Store for graduation ceremonies
- Making up academic costume orders for staff and students
- Moving gown stock to and from various locations which will involve manual handling;Dealing with any queries relating to the hire of Academic Costume in person or on the telephone
