Activity Overview

Level of Study

Undergraduate

Award Type

Single Route, Combined Route

The Exploring Law Forum (ELF) empowers students to think creatively and critically about the law, how it operates, who it impacts upon and how it can be transformed. Its central aim is to encourage students to apply their legal education to areas such as art, culture and technology and think beyond the confines of the lecture hall. ELF is a unique programme designed to develop the so-called ‘soft skills’ that law students will need when progressing to the working world. Participants take part in a diverse range of activities that have been designed to build competence in areas such as public speaking, working in groups, communicating, critical thinking, and getting rid of imposter syndrome. ELF is a holistic approach to skills development and is the only project of its kind in a UK law school.

Students can achieve the Future-Ready Award through the Single Route if they complete the 40 hours minimum engagement across 3 years of undergraduate programme. If they only complete some of the activities then they can use these to make a Combined Route application.
