Activity Overview
Level of StudyUndergraduate, Postgraduate Taught/Masters, Postgraduate Research
Award TypeSingle Route
Students will be attested into the RAF Volunteer Reserve as Officer Cadets and will be members of the Northern Ireland UAS. Training nights are held during term times at Aldergrove Flying Station. Students have the opportunity to learn to fly and for those that commit, aspire to go solo. In addition, training is provided through a mix of theoretical lectures and practical exercises including adventurous training (at home and abroad) and military field exercises. The period of continuous training may include a flying camp in the UK, or attachment to an operational RAF base as well as staff or student-led expeditions. Note that certain age, nationality and residency limitations apply (contact for advice if required) and selection will be by interview, practical assessment and fitness test. Although attestation is for a nominal 2-year commitment, students may elect to leave at any time.
