Students attend weekly meetings based around SMF core activities. These are for a minimum of 2 hours per week during each semester (48 hours per academic year).

During these meetings students can take on a range of roles within the fund: analyst, sector head, member of the executive committee.

Activities range from technical skills training using Bloomberg, valuation analysis, report writing, portfolio evaluation and construction.

Students are also provided with soft skills training around CV preparation, interview skills, and presentation skills.

A range of industry speakers also attend throughout the year for evening meetings which provide students with an insight into how theory is applied in practice and potential roles within the financial services industry.
