Students volunteer to act as buddies to students in the year below.  For those looking after 1st year students we suggest meeting at least three times in the 1st semester.  For those students looking after other years we ask them to meet at least once per semester and to keep in contact via email, facebook etc. 

Students acting as buddies give advice about the course (what is easy, about deadlines etc.) things that tutors could not (or would not) tell you.  Buddies will help with issues such as orientation, settling into university life, understanding the timetable and more.
