Please note this iENGAGE is aimed at undergraduate students studying Biomedical, Medical, Health and Life Sciences degrees.

We launched the iENGAGE virtual summer student scheme here in the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine (WWIEM) in 2021. This scheme allows both Queen’s and international students from all over the world to engage in an exciting online summer student research scheme for 6 weeks. We launched this scheme in response to the COVID pandemic to allow our QUB students to participate in a summer research project during lockdown. In addition, we wished to increase widening participation for students in developing countries who cannot afford to travel to do an in-person summer studentship. In the 3 years the iENGAGE programme has run, we have had over 200 students from over 50 countries participate in the programme. We believe that the new iENGAGE provides a high-level research experience for local and international students.
