Duration - More InformationQueen's Global Opportunities Team are collaborating with Mitacs and Universities UK International to offer undergraduate students the opportunity to complete a fully funded 12-week research internship in Canada during the Summer in a variety of academic disciplines from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.
- Be undergraduates enrolled full-time at Queen's University Belfast (Students on an integrated Masters are also eligible)
- Have recently (May/ June 24) completed 1st year of a 3-year programme or 2nd year of a 4-year programme
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a minimum weighted average of 60% if you are from a widening participation background or 65% if you do not meet this criteria (this will be confirmed by the Global Opportunities Team)
- Be able to spend 12 consecutive weeks between May and October 2025 at a university in Canada on a research project related to your area of interest and expertise
- Demonstrate oral and written fluency in English or French, depending on the primary language of the project
- Apply to a minimum of three to seven projects and ensure selections are from at least three different Canadian provinces

Cost DetailsThe internship will be co-funded by Mitacs and Queen’s Global Opportunities Team. The funding package includes:
- Return flights (via reimbursement)
- Airport transfer
- Medical insurance
- Visa fees (via reimbursement)
- Living stipend
- Accommodation stipend
- Registration for professional development training
- Registration for industry events
- Student fees at host institution
- Access to the Mitacs mentor scheme
Please note that although this will be a fully-funded opportunity for the successful candidates, some of the fees will be incurred by the selected students upfront and reimbursed upon arrival in Canada.
