Work Shadowing

Work Shadowing Week

Organisations may host up to 10 students for one day of work shadowing. Work shadowing differs from internships and placements as it’s informal and unpaid and lasts for only one day. The purpose is to get an insight rather than to gain hands-on practical experience.

Work shadowing week at Queen’s is a highlight for the Spring term, with students offered experiential careers insight days on premise with some of Northern Ireland’s most vibrant organisations.

Inspire the next generation of graduates

Host companies are invited to take up to 10 students for a one-day work shadowing experience, with an opportunity to bring your industry to life and inspire students to explore careers and roles within your sector, and potentially with your company in the future.

Work shadowing differs from internships and placements in that the experience is informal and unpaid.  The focus is on showcasing the company and its values with an opportunity for students to observe professionals in the workplace.  Participating organisations can gain a real insight into student motivations and priorities when it comes to career planning and what they are looking for in a graduate role.

Work shadowing week for 2025 is scheduled for 14 – 17 April 2025.
