1. I haven't received my loans...
Have you fully registered with the University? Ensure you have completed all steps of Registration. If you have done this correctly, you will receive a confirmation email to your Queen's email address. If you have not received an email, please return to the Qsis Registration Portal to complete it. If you are a new student, please ensure that you have completed both the online registration and onsite matriculation. If you need help with completing the portal, see question 5.
Have you returned your declaration form? This form should have been posted to you by your Student Loans Company (SLC) along with your payment schedule. You can check if this has been received by the SLC by checking your application status online.
Did you apply on time before the deadline? Late applications can take up to 6 weeks to process by your Student Finance office. As above, check your application status online for any updates.
Did you submit any changes in circumstances? Anything from a change of address to change of course must be communicated to both the University and your Student Finance office. Mismatch between Student Finance and our records may result in the delay of your payment. To check your details at the University, log into Qsis and check Personal Details. To check your details for the Student Finance office, login to your account on their website.
2. I have fully registered, returned the declaration form and applied before the deadline...
If you have registered correctly, you will receive a confirmation email to your Queen's email address. Make sure you aren't confused between being enrolled and registered. Your School can complete enrolment for you so that your modules have been selected, however you must also complete registration online yourself. Go to Qsis > Complete Registration and fully complete all sections.
If you are a new student, matriculation also needs to be completed. This will need to be done on-site.
Always check the status of your loan application online. If you are satisfied that you have returned the declaration form and completed everything else as necessary but have yet to receive your loan, send us an email with your student number. Please ensure you have waited for at least 5 working days before doing so.
3. How long does it take to confirm my registration?
Once your loan application has been processed and you are fully registered with the University, it will take around 2 working days for us to confirm your registration to your Student Finance office. They will thereafter release your payments into your bank account in around 3 to 5 working days. Please allow 5 working days before contacting the University/Student Finance should there be any problems.
4. Where can I get a declaration form?
A declaration form is posted to you by your Student Finance office along with your payment schedule. If you have misplaced this, please contact your Student Finance office for another copy or search on their website.
5. I need help with completing registration and enrolment
For full information on Enrolment & Registration and guides on using the portal, please visit www.qub.ac.uk/welcome.
6. How do I know if Queen's have confirmed my registration/attendance?
It will usually take around 2 working days for us to confirm your registration. This is provided that your Student Finance office has asked us for this information (following the acceptance of your application) and that you are fully registered with the University. Your attendance is confirmed to Student Finance at three points throughout the academic year. If you have any concerns, please email us your student number and we can check this for you.
Once you have returned your declaration form (sent by your Student Finance office along with the payment schedule letter) your maintenance loan should arrive in your bank account. You will receive a text from them a day before the money is due to go into your bank. You will not receive this text if you have not provided them with a mobile number.
8. Are there any other funds that I can apply for?
Support Funds and Hardship Funds are available for students who require financial assistance during their course. For full information, please visit www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/finance/StudentSupport/.
9. How can I submit a Mode of Study/Course Intensity form for completion?
Please log a request via our portal https://myportal.qub.ac.uk/ and upload your form. Please ensure you have completed your sections before submission. The form will be emailed directly to your Education Authority.
10. How can I notify SLC of my change in circumstances?
Whether you are switching courses, taking a break from your studies, or withdrawing completely from the University, you can notify us via our portal https://myportal.qub.ac.uk/ and we will submit a change of circumstance directly to the SLC for you.
11. I have an issue with SUSI/SAAS loans/grants.
If you are fully registered and an active student of the University, your attendance will automatically be confirmed to SUSI/SAAS. If you withdraw from the University, this is also reported to SUSI/SAAS. If you have any issues, you can log a request via https://myportal.qub.ac.uk/ and we can investigate for you.
