Self-harm is an act of intentional self injury

You may self-harm as a way of dealing with difficult feelings, memories or overwhelming situations. The reason Students may self-harm are individual and complex and can be a way of expressing feelings that contribute to poor mental health, including, shame, guilt, anger or sadness. After self-harming you may feel short term sense of release, but the cause of your distress is unlikely to have gone away. If you care concerned about your own or someone else’s self-harm please reach out for support. Contact Student Wellbeing who can encourage strategies for self-care and may suggest counselling.
