Senior Academy Info for Students

The Queen's Senior Academy is a two-year programme supporting Year 13 into Year 14 participants in non-selective secondary schools and further education colleges to develop their potential to progress to Higher Education, including Queen's University Belfast.

About the programme

The Senior Academy Programme at Queen’s University Belfast is designed to provide students in Northern Ireland with the opportunity to develop their academic skills, build confidence, and explore the variety of pathways available after secondary education. The programme introduces students to the realities of Higher Education, Further Education, and Higher Level Apprenticeships, offering them the tools and resources to make informed decisions about their future.

The Senior Academy Programme is aimed at students in Year 13 who are currently studying a two-year Level 3 qualification (such as A-Levels or equivalent qualifications). Over the course of the programme, students will participate in a series of on-campus days at Queen’s University, including a 3-day residential stay in Queen’s student accommodation.

Throughout the programme, participants will engage in a variety of workshops, events, and academic activities designed to support their educational journey and expose them to university life. The programme focuses on providing an immersive experience that highlights the different pathways available to students.
