Dr Ehsan Nowroozi
Dr Ehsan Nowroozi has joined EEECS as a Research Fellow, collaborating closely with staff from the Cyber theme, and is based at the ECIT (CSIT) site under the guidance of Prof. Paul Miller.
In terms of academic background, Dr. Nowroozi holds the position of a Research Fellow with a specialization in AI for Cybersecurity and boasts a substantial track record of applying these principles to real-world challenges. The Ph.D. degree was conferred upon Dr. Nowroozi by the University of Siena, Italy, in 2020. The doctoral research concentrated on the development of "Machine Learning Techniques for Image Forensics in an Adversarial Setting" within the cybersecurity domain. It's noteworthy that Dr. Nowroozi's Ph.D. dissertation garnered significant attention, ranking among the most viewed theses in the EURASIP Library of Ph.D. theses from April 2020 to August 2023.
Dr. Nowroozi's professional journey encompasses diverse projects, some of which received funding from prominent institutions like DARPA, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) of the U.S. government, and the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), all dedicated to the study of adversarial multimedia forensics. Prior to joining EEECS, Dr. Nowroozi held the position of a postdoctoral researcher at esteemed institutions such as Siena and Padua Universities in Italy and Sabanci University in Turkey. Additionally, in the academic year 2022 to 2023, Dr. Nowroozi served as an Assistant Professor at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey.
Beyond research, Dr. Nowroozi actively contributes to the scholarly community as a reviewer for prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (TIFS), and IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), among others. This commitment to scholarly excellence led to Dr. Nowroozi's recognition as a senior member of the IEEE in 2022.
Dr. Nowroozi's research interests span a wide spectrum, encompassing areas such as pattern recognition, image processing for anti-counterfeiting applications, machine/deep-learning security threats and defenses, and network security.
