Introduction Image

This eResource has been designed to be used on a university PC using the Google Chrome web browser. It is currently not configured to be used on any mobile device.

The aim of this eResource is to help you to reflect and apply the knowledge gained from the evidence based nursing lectures and associated reading, giving you the opportunity to integrate theory and nursing practice. There are 9 core lectures in Evidence Based Nursing 1 with associated tutorials and self-directed activities.

The module has eight distinct but interconnected sections (listed below) in this eResource and each relate to lectures 2-9 of Evidence Based Nursing 1. The learning outcomes of each lecture are outlined and are attached to the relevant learning activities.

The activities contained within the eResource will aid you in testing your own understanding on the areas covered, direct you regarding future work you may need to undertake and help you prepare for the assessments within this module.

An online discussion forum will be open each week you have a lecture, where you can raise and discuss the lecture and workbook activities with fellow students and lecturers.

A wide range of reading and resources relating to evidence based practice are available, the core text is; Holland and Rees (2010) as detailed in the reading list (Click here)

Each section of this eResource will also have a theory to practice link. This could be a video, a podcast or a link to another eResource. These links will help demonstrate the relevance and applicability of using evidence to support clinical practice.

If you are having difficulty or wish to ask a question you can access the online discussion forum in Queens Online (Click here)

Across all three phases of the Year 1 EBN1 course you will need to work through each of the formative assessment questions presented. At the end of each section you must complete the summative QuestionMark test.

The eight QuestionMark assessment sections make up 50% of the overall total mark awarded for EBN1 course and the other 50% of the marks come from an end of year QuestionMark MCQ.
