Positive Life is the only HIV-specific charity which offers support, information and signposting to all people living with and affected by HIV in Northern Ireland We aim to support and empower everyone living with or affected by HIV, upholding the principles of dignity, equality and respect, and to seek to prevent the spread of HIV through the provision of information, education and awareness. The Northern Ireland HIV Maternity Forum meets 3 times a year to share best practice amongst those who work within the maternity arena regarding HIV. Midwives, specialised nurses, tutors, students, obstetricians, paediatricians, social workers, pharmacists and HIV support centre workers all contribute, sharing case studies. They also bring experiences from conferences and other maternity units across the UK.
RVH 2Kare Trust was established by the Regional HIV Team (NI) in the Royal Victoria Hospital, for the benefit of men, women, young people and children, living with HIV disease in Northern Ireland. The group offers small grants to help restore independence, self worth and diginity. The funding for this project is raised by people in Northern Ireland, for people living in Northern Ireland with HIV Disease.
The Sexual Health Training Team co-ordinates the HIV Awareness Project, providing a range of services and support to Health & Social Care Staff, including;Co-ordination and delivery of cascade HIV Awareness Training throughout the Belfast and South Eastern Health & Social Care Trusts, regional HIV awareness training the trainers programmes, annual regional HIV trainers update day and annual regional Sexual Health Conference. The HIV Awareness Project aims to raise staff awareness of the basics of HIV. This model of HIV Awareness is delivered to staff in every Health and Social Care Trust throughout Northern Ireland.
