March 20, 2020
Location
Institute of Irish Studies, 27 University Square, QUB
Time
10:30 - 17:00
Price

Bringing together activists, academics and artists, ‘Listening in/NI’ will provide a forum to start and develop conversations from critical and creative perspectives about engaging with voices -- LGBTQ+, women, people of colour -- that are so frequently sidelined in the North. Given the rapidly changing political and social landscape of Northern Ireland, and the turmoil that Brexit looks likely to create, these conversations are becoming increasingly important.

The speakers include: Caroline Magennis, University of Salford; Vanessa Ifediora, photographer and activist; Livi Dee, Newcastle University; Katie Mishler, University College Dublin; Clare Gormley, Assistant Curator, The MAC Belfast; Eli Davies, University of Ulster; Steffi Lehner, Queen’s University Belfast; Anna Liesching, Curator of Art at the Ulster Museum; and Sacha White, writer and activist.

The day will be free and open to students, staff (from Queen’s and beyond) and interested members of the public. A vegetarian lunch will be provided and the day will conclude with a drinks reception. Please email the organiser if you have any other dietary requirements.

All events will take place in the Irish Studies seminar room, 27 University Square at Queen’s University Belfast. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement No 797433.
