Prolific writer, editor, and former SHC Fellow, Lucy Caldwell tells stories through novels, short stories, radio and stage plays. She will be in discussion with our director Glenn Patterson after the class.
'In these strange days, don’t worry if you don’t have the capacity to create. Sometimes, it takes all we have just to get through the day, one day at a time. But it will come back, and when it does, let’s be ready for it.
In this masterclass we’ll play about with form. We’ll look at stories made up of text messages, or lists, or as a Japanese women’s magazine’s Q&A. Stories told in the imperative tense, or backwards. You’ll end the session with a dozen templates, things to try, by yourself or with friends or flatmates or even your children; or to store up for when you can, do, start writing again.
And in the meantime we’ll have fun.'
