This seminar will focus on the role of emotions in legal education. It will argue that emotions pervade every part of the law school experience, for both students and staff. It will explore their role in learning and teaching and their connections to staff and student wellbeing. It will also refer to possible ways in which law schools could begin to acknowledge and incorporate an understanding of emotions within their approach. It will trace the student journey from entry into law school through to graduation and beyond to highlight some of the key ways in which emotions manifest themselves and emphasise their relationship with both staff and student wellbeing. Topics covered will include transitions, teaching and learning, assessment, residential accomodation, the 'online pivot' and preparation for the workplace.
