The aim of Plus is to foster a safe, inclusive, and positive space for postgraduate students, researchers, and staff who identify as LGBTQIA+.

Organiser, Kerry Campbell says: "Plus is also for PG students and staff who may be questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. We feel it is incredibly important to foster space for openly queer+ students and to allow those PG students and staff who may be questioning or who have not yet publicly come out to find community and support from other members of the LGBTQIA+ community in a space where they can be free to express themselves as they wish. Therefore, Plus will be doing everything it can to help keep the anonymity of anyone who has not yet come out or is questioning and give them that safe space to be surrounded by a supportive and collegial LGBTQIA+ social group.

"Plus intends to help queer+ PGs take up space. Some of the events planned for Plus, include: LGBTQIA+ research and history presentations, LGBTQIA+ movie nights, arts and crafts evenings, social trips, LGBTQIA+ safe sex sessions and Queer+ history nights. This is a university wide group, so you will be mixing with LGBTQIA+ researchers across many different disciplines which can help networking and queer+ community building on campus.
