This presentation will explore the practice of arranging and presenting music from ballet for domestic performance, with a particular emphasis on the London and Paris music scenes.

Although much of this material bears only an opportunistic connection with its theatrical origins, particular attention will be paid to sheet music dedicated to pieces of repertory associated with specific performers. Each of these dancers would have been celebrated for the individual qualities of their performances. Do these musical arrangements bear any imprint of this creativity?
