Xenia Pestova Bennett presents world premieres composed especially for the University's Magnetic Resonator Piano (MRP) now permanently housed in the Sonic Lab, SARC. The new pieces were selected from composition submissions by summer workshop participants, who explored the MRP in depth over a series of group and individual sessions. Originally designed by Andrew McPherson, this innovative hybrid instrument expands the capabilities of the concert grand piano, introducing an array of colourful techniques from bowed-like sounds to otherworldly textures.
