The Leverhulme Interdisciplinary Network on Algorithmic Solutions (LINAS) Seminar series is student-led and organised by the doctoral scholars on the programme.
The speakers will be:
Cecile Harrault (School of Law) – 2nd Year LINAS Doctoral Scholar
Title: 'The Invisible Hand: Legal Implications of Automated Demotion on Social Media Platforms’
Nora Poloni-Gallagher (School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics) – 3rd Year LINAS Doctoral Scholar
Title: ‘AI vs Human Advice: how Public Servants Interact with AI-enabled Systems’
Dr Matt Nicholl (School of Maths and Physics)
Matt Nicholl is a Reader in Astrophysics in the School of Maths and Physics. He researches variable cosmic phenomena such as supernova explosions and black hole growth, using machine learning algorithms to identify rare objects in large astronomical data sets. Matt is a member of the LINAS Core Team and provides a first point of contact for pastoral care for all LINAS doctoral scholars.
