Symposium on Responsible Management Education and Emerging Technologies

Following almost four decades of research, the role and place of technology in education is well established. Therefore, some of the questions the launch of ChatGPT in 2022 raises are existing ones.

Location
Queen’s Business School
Time
10:00 - 16:00

How can we ensure technology is accessible to learners, how can we use it to support and enhance critical thinking, skill development and assist learners from a diverse range of backgrounds? However, GenAI’s intensive resource usage prompts further considerations on the wider dimensions of responsible AI use and, more broadly, the use of technology in management education.

To explore these issues, we are holding a one-day, in-person symposium on ‘Responsible Management Education and Emerging Technologies’ on Friday 20 June 2025 from 10am to 4pm at Queen’s Business School (QBS), Belfast. The event will address themes including how:

  • the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) the and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can support–and be supported by–technologies, including GenAI.
  • technology can inform pedagogic research related to Responsible Management Education, including consideration of the development of robust scholarship underpinned by theory.
  • emerging technologies can be used to enhance graduate work-readiness capability and support PRME’s aim to ‘nurture the responsible leaders of the future’.

The format will include a mix of presentations, group discussions, and opportunities to explore cross-institutional collaboration. We invite faculty engaged in teaching, research, and scholarship in this area to share their work with attendees via short presentations (6 minutes and 6 slides maximum). If you would like to present, please contact the symposium organisers via email by Monday 28 April 2025 at 5pm. A maximum of 15 presentation slots are available and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. (In the interests of fairness, no one may submit or be associated with more than two submissions). Confirmation of acceptance will be provided by Tuesday 6 May 2025. Presentation slides should be submitted by Tuesday 17 June 2025 at 5pm

The symposium, which is generously supported by the Department of Organisation, Work, and Leadership (OWL) at QBS, is free to attend; however, places are limited. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. To register, please complete this Microsoft Form
