Health and Medicine Editor for The Conversation, Clint Witchalls, will visit the Graduate School on Tuesday 2 April. This session will provide an excellent opportunity to find out how The Conversation works, the positive impact it can have on your work and how to get your ideas published.

The session is open to all PhDs with a connection to Health and Medicine, or a story idea that could be connected to this field.

The session will include:
* An introduction to The Conversation; an overview of the work it does, the benefits of writing an article for The Conversation and what’s in it for researchers
* How to write for The Conversation; tips on style, tone and structure, and finding the news value
* Outline the importance of being able to profile your research in a way to create impact and adapt this to audiences
* Examples of pitches – what works and doesn’t work
* Some discussion/Q&A
* Finally, there will be exercises and the chance to develop your own article

About The Conversation:
The Conversation is an independent source of news and views, sourced from the academic and research community and delivered direct to the public.

* Come along and meet Clint and get his insight into writing for The Conversation and how this can raise your research profile
* There will be tea and coffee and time to chat to colleagues from the MHLS Faculty
