Consultancy services
The Research and Enterprise (R&E) Directorate co-ordinates the University’s industrial support activities and is the contact point for all organisations involved in economic development. It is also responsible for developing opportunities through which academics can gain access to the business and economic development communities.
At an operational level, the Directorate is the ’front door’ through which business can access the industrial support and knowledge base of the University.

Innovation Vouchers
An Invest NI Innovation Voucher provides up to a maximum of £4K funding for a small businesses to access specialist technical knowledge from Queen’s University staff. Details of project eligibility and application call dates can be found on the Invest NI Innovation Voucher web page.
Similar programmes are run by Enterprise Ireland for companies based in the Republic of Ireland and Innovate UK.
Invest NI Grant for R&D
Invest NI can provide funding under the Grant for R&D scheme to NI-based businesses wishing to undertake Research and Development work. Often the involvement of a Queen’s University staff member is initially as a consultant to help with project definition, leading onto a collaborative research project application.
