Queen’s honours Medical Professional and Philanthropist for services to clinical education
Dr Brian Cheung, a successful business professional and philanthropist, will be awarded an Honorary degree at Queen’s today, almost 40 years after his first Queen’s graduation.
Brian came to Queen’s to undertake a medical degree, having moved from Hong Kong a few years earlier to complete his secondary education in Belfast.
Following his degree, Brian has gone on to carve out a career in business. His diversified business interests encompass provision of healthcare service, hospitality, properties and financial insurance. He currently lives in England.
Brian is highly committed to supporting education and raising standards of healthcare in Northern Ireland and has made a significant contribution in the fields of medicine and healthcare.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Dr Cheung said: “I am truly honoured to receive this Doctor of Medical Science for distinction in Medical Education from Queen’s. I have exceptionally fond memories of Queen’s, both from my time studying here in the 1980s, as well as working with dedicated medical profession of the future. I am delighted to have the opportunity to graduate again here today alongside the next generation of medical professionals.”
