Record-breaking year for Queen’s as research results reach an all-time high
The latest research performance results from Queen’s University Belfast indicate 2023-24 was a record-breaking year.
The University’s research awards have increased year-on-year for the past five years and are currently valued at over £124M, with total industry funds increasing to over £34M.
Researchers at Queen’s work endlessly to make a global impact through excellence in research and innovation, helping to shape a better world.
Currently, the University is ranked 117th in the world for Research Quality by Times Higher World University Rankings 2025.
Professor Archie Clements, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) for Research and Enterprise at Queen’s commented:
“Queen’s certainly has a proud history of conducting innovative, impactful and world-leading research that has positively influenced people from across the globe.
“I recognise that 2023-24 was another extremely successful year for high-quality research performance, our highest ever on record, and I would like to congratulate everyone who has dedicated their time to achieving these outstanding results.
“As a university, our ambition for 2030 is to further enhance our influence by strengthening our research position and working with industry to broaden our translational impact and innovation. I have no doubt that we will continue to deliver high-quality, world-leading research.”
The University’s research disciplines span from English to Engineering, Business, Law, Creative Arts, Architecture, Food Science, Physics, Nursing and more.
