Dr Ben Collins
Reader in Biochemistry (Proteomics)
Biological Sciences
Dr Collins' group is focused on proteomics - the large-scale analysis of proteins from biological samples.
Dr Collins' research group uses a powerful analytical technique called mass spectrometry to determine the state of thousands of proteins in various biological systems and, in particular, state changes related to the biological context (e.g. what happens to the proteome if you treat some cells with a drug?). We develop methods and apply these to variety of problems in fields such as innate immunity, host-pathogen interactions, and drug development.
