Dr Larrañeta is an expert in development and characterisation of medical devices for long-acting drug delivery.
Dr Larrañeta is currently working on the development of diverse types of drug eluting implantable devices. These devices are used to provide prolonged drug delivery to improve patient compliance. This is specially important in patient with chronic conditions such as Schizophrenia, Parkinson’s Disease or HIV. Implantable devices are commonly made of polymeric materials and their properties can be tailored by altering the composition of these devices. In this way, drug release profiles can be tailored to the specific applications adapting to patient's needs.
Dr. Larrañeta and his team are experts in the development of implantable medical devices. For this purpose they use advanced materials and state-of-the-art manufacturing tools such as 3D-printing.
