We continue our Fireside Chats at the Mitchell Institute in this new Semester of 2020!  

The focus of this Chat will be on how Northern Ireland has been affected from its creation by changing interpretations of the international norm of self-determination. Adrian will also discuss the impact of the latest changes in world politics on the Good Friday Agreement, particularly surrounding Brexit and the election of Donald Trump. The presentation will draw on Adrian’s article in Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, which addresses these issues.

The Fireside Chats are an informal speaker series which allows both staff and students to casually present their research to the community in a social setting. The Fireside Chats will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 5—6pm in the Mitchell Institute Common Room. Snacks (wine and cheese) will be provided.
