'Written text and spoken word limits the possibility to share individual collective experiences of loss. Dance offers a way to communicate experiences of loss beyond language barriers by using more universal language of signs, movements, and symbols.' (Vieten 2017)
This dance performance is 'work in progress' and part of an experimental and interdisciplinary research project 'Loss and Dance', led by Dr Ulrike M Vieten, Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice', Queen's University Belfast. The project is realised in cooperation with the Istanbul based dance company Ciplak Ayaklar Kumpanyasi.
Performers will be Asli Ozturk, Duygu Gungor, Melih Kirac, and Mihran Tomasy.
Mihran Tomasyan will also be performing a solo piece, 'You're Not a Fish After All".
The performances are free to attend, however, the audience would be expected to participate in our research of audience responses.
