Professor Linda Rabben is an author, anthropologist and human rights activist. Her eighth book, Sanctuary and Asylum: A Social and Political History (2016), is based on research in the USA, UK, Netherlands and France. She did field research in Brazil over a 27-year period and worked for Amnesty International, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, the Rainforest Foundation, and other NGOs on human rights, migration, environmental and international development issues. She has spoken about migration issues to diverse audiences in the US, UK and France. Since 2015 she has been an associate research professor of anthropology at the University of Maryland, USA.
