Before his appointment as Poland’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Professor Arkady Rzegocki worked as a political science lecturer at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. 

His academic expertise covers Polish and English political philosophy, the concept of raison d’état, and the issue of soft power. He studied at University College Dublin and conducted research in Denver, Oxford, Cambridge, London, and Florence among others. He was also a Visiting Scholar at Sidney Sussex College at the University of Cambridge. 

In 2014, he became a member of the Kraków City Council, where he chaired the Committee on Innovation and European Funds. 

For many years he has been actively promoting knowledge on Poland in the UK both among Poles and Britons, especially in the academic world. He is the originator and the first head of The Jagiellonian University Polish Research Centre in London, which was founded in 2011.
