Annual Postgraduate Research Conference 2024
CALL FOR PAPERS - Movements and Their Discontents: Approaches to Contentious Politics and the Challenges to the Status Quo
Keynote Speaker: Professor Quassim Cassam (Dept. of Philosophy at the University of Warwick)
In an age of social upheaval, political instability and environmental crisis, it is perhaps easier than ever for movements to present a challenge to the status quo.
We invite postgraduate researchers to share their research on themes related to contentious politics, civil resistance and state responses to political and social movements at the Mitchell Institutes Annual Postgraduate Conference, on 19 June 2024.
Has increased connectivity made movements today more powerful? Do contentious politics always polarise? How do states respond to challenges presented by political and social movements across a broad field of issues?
An interdisciplinary event, we are open to papers in the fields of politics, history, international relations, anthropology, philosophy and other related disciplines.
We will consider applications from PGR students, early career researchers and MA students.
