During her visit, Christine met with Institute staff and students, as well as colleagues across QUB. She has strong links with QUB through the PeaceRep international research consortium led by Edinburgh University Law School.

PeaceRep is re-thinking peace and transition processes in light of changing conflict dynamics, changing demands of inclusion, and changes in patterns of global intervention in conflict and peace/mediation/transition management processes. It supports the reimagining of peace and transition processes through a range of traditional, praxis, and digitally innovative research tools and projects.

Christine’s research interests lie in the interface between constitutional and international law, gender and conflict, and legal theory, with a particular interest in peace processes and their agreements. Christine has been instrumental in the development of the PA-X Peace Agreements Database. PA-X is a database and repository of peace agreements from 1990 to date, current up until 1 June 2021. It provides a comprehensive dataset of over 1915 peace agreements from 1990 to mid-2021, in over 140 peace processes and is capable of underpinning both quantitative and qualitative research. The database has coding of provisions for 225+ substantive categories such as power-sharing, women, and transitional justice. It enables search permutations which can disaggregate the data by country, entity, region, conflict type, and stage of agreement; and allows examination of different combinations of issues addressed.
