Congratulations to Mitchell Institute Fellow: Religion, Arts and Peacebuilding, Dr Gail McConnell who has been selected as one of 50 Irish artists to be awarded a residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris for 2025-26.
The artists will develop projects that reflect the diversity of their interests and origins.
Gail’s month-long residency is co-funded by Literature Ireland and the Centre Culturel Irlandais with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Dr Gail McConnell
Gail publishes poetry and literary criticism and has made arts features for radio. She is the author of The Sun is Open (Penned in the Margins, 2021), Northern Irish Poetry and Theology (Palgrave, 2014), and two pamphlets of poetry: Fothermather (Ink Sweat & Tears, 2019) and Fourteen (Green Bottle Press, 2018). Gail's academic research focuses on modern Irish and British poetry. Her writing interests include childhood, The Troubles and its aftermath, parenthood, play, queerness, religion, the dead and the possibilities (and politics) of language and form.
