  • APPLYING FOR A TUITION FEE LOAN
Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)

Scottish students can apply for a loan to pay their fees if they are studying at a UK institution outside Scotland and meet SAAS residency eligibility conditions. The residency eligibility conditions are complicated and if a student is in any doubt about their residence status, they should contact SAAS for advice.

As confirmation of funding SAAS will send students a financial notification letter which they should give to the Student Finance Office during enrolment and registration to ensure their tuition fees are paid. SAAS will make tuition fee payments directly to the University on the student’s behalf.

When an application has been made for a full-time undergraduate programme, prospective students should apply for a tuition fee loan and/or maintenance loan. Students do not need to wait until a firm offer of a place has have received.

For further up-to-date information and frequently asked questions regarding SAAS and the application process and closing dates, please visit SAAS.
